7 Years, 6 Age-Group Titles and Still Getting Faster
I joined Koa Sports in 2019. I’d already been in triathlon for a while, but I knew I still had more to give in both training and racing. If you’d told me back then that I’d become a 6X AG Champion and finish the 2022 Ironman World Championship, I would have said you were crazy. Koa has not only helped me get the absolute best out of myself, but it has also steadily built the belief that I am more capable than I ever imagined.
My life is busy—corporate work, a constantly shifting schedule, and living in Melbourne where you can get four seasons in a single day. The coaching has always flexed with that reality. No change is ever too much, and the feedback is clear and practical. The training is hard at times, yet my coach knows exactly when I need a proper phone conversation and the right level of support to move through to the next block.
Success has never been a straight line. We’ve had days we’d rather forget, but that’s sport. The open and honest relationship I have with my coach means every result—good or bad—gets reviewed properly so we keep moving forward.
I’m now seven years older and racing in the 35-39 age group, yet I’m faster and performing better than ever. After seven years, the program is still different, challenging and stimulating. There’s been no plateau and no sense of staleness. That ongoing motivation is rare and incredibly valuable.
