Shift Work, Sacrifice and a Kona Qualification
Shift work takes its toll, but somehow Koa finds a way to make it all fit.
I joined Koa Sports in July 2024 with one clear goal: to get more out of myself in endurance sports while juggling the unpredictable hours of emergency services shift work.
What I found was coaching that didn’t just fit around my life—it made the most of it.
In two years my times have transformed. My IRONMAN 70.3 personal best dropped from 5:37 to 4:52. My marathon went from 3:54 to 3:14. Then came the big one: a debut full IRONMAN in 10:54 and a Kona World Championship qualification.
No perfect conditions. No endless free time. Just smart, adaptive programming that respected the chaos of shift work while refusing to lower the bar.
Koa didn’t give me more hours in the day. They helped me make every single one of them count.
